Merging clinical work, writing, and research, I’ve been a Professor of Clinical Psychology for doctoral students at the Wright Institute since 1992, including running Case Conferences for a decade. Now Professor Emeritus, I maintain a private practice in San Francisco. Trained in Control Mastery Theory for many years by Joe Weiss, I’ve added a feminist, mindfulness (Buddhist) and biological emphasis to Joe and Hal’s prosocial perspective on the human mind As a student of Buddhism for the last decade, I’ve merged a tradition of mindfulness meditation into my practice. Finally, I’m now finishing a book, “How to Think Like a Clinician: Essays in Prosocial Psychotherapy” and have a Blog in Psychology Today and in Medium. A draft of this book will be available to everyone registered for this Case Conference.

I'm in private practice, working with teens and adults in California. I focus on relationships, anxiety, and the experience of children of immigrants. I'm a lover of green drinks (think matcha and wheatgrass), our pets, and our blended family. An athlete at heart, I'm mostly a weekend warrior these days. And every once in a while I play a mean game of Catan.
